I love my show :D
So I was in kinda a bad mood today what with having to work an early morning shift after closing last night, and the weather and the mall being full of stressed out people and all....
This show just continues to hit all my buttons.
I loved the old skool Special Presentation thing, and the special titles. With snow!
And there was just so much snark and funny with the boys -- the not knowing the words to Silent Night and the "hi, we're pedophiles!" faux pas at the Santa village. And the snark with the pagan Cleavers. "I'll fudging kill you!" Heee.
And this ep has the distinction of being the first one to have a scene that creeps/squicks me since the toy monkey with the cymbols of DOOM and the trash compactor in Home. Dear Kripke, please to be leaving all the boys' parts attached including the nails. Thanks. That was just.... EEEEK.
I loved the flashbacks (and I'm so happy they got Ridge back to play wee Dean again -- he's a great little actor and I could so see grown up Dean in his portrayal.) with Dean trying so hard to keep Sammy in the dark and then telling him everything and his total hero worship of their Dad and his trying to give Sammy a Xmas even if he had to steal some girl gifts to do it. And wee Sammy with his questions and getting his little geek on and looking until he found answers and pretty much making Dean tell him with a look and the crying himself to sleep. Awwww.....
And Sammy giving the amulet to Dean! The amulet that DEAN NEVER TAKES OFF. That alone? The rest of the ep could've sucked donkey balls and I still would have loved it just for the amulet. See, this is why this show OWNS me. That's the kind of thing I'm used to having to rely on fanfic for. SPN? Gives it to me in CANON.
And present day Dean and Sam were just as awwwww and oh boys inducing as their wee counterparts. With Dean wanting to do Christmas this year and Sam not wanting to for the same reason -- it could be Dean's last. The looks in the conversation and their voices and.... Oh boys.... And then Sammy giving him the Christmas at the end -- and the gifts they got each other, silly but so perfectly in character. And the look they share at the end before they turn on the game... They really do say more in silences than they do with words.
I just... *flaiks* This show hits all my buttons and just makes me so happy.
(And I so want to write a fic about their next Christmas and them really going all out because it's the first of many instead of the last.)
Really and truly, the only way this ep could have been any more perfect for me is if they had managed to get JDM for a day and just had John do a cameo in the final flashback. But it was so awesome and glee making as is, that might've just killed me!
